Our Story

Kolourkloud.com, the brainchild of Shalini Srivastav came into existence few years back. The sole idea of starting kolourkloud was to popularise, spread and bring a twist in the traditional tribal art forms of India across different geographies., keeping the current market trends in mind.

A Mechanical engineer from a government engineering college and MBA in IT from Jamnalal Bajaj institute of Management Studies, Mumbai, Shalini worked with L&T and other IT companies for many years and also taught at management institutes. As she was always attracted and pulled by the craftsmanship, beauty and the intricacy of rich Indian tribal art forms, she quit her corporate job to start Kolourkloud.com -unique finds for creative minds, one stop destination for all your gifting needs- both personal and corporate

Shalini incorporated a unique model in the working of Kolourkloud by engaging and involving the underprivileged women who are free for few hours in a day, thus providing them an earning opportunity and productivity during their free time. As a part of its social responsibility Kolourkloud is involved in imparting and providing training to many underprivileged women in NGO’s who are talented but are deprived of opportunities to showcase their talent.

Shalini sells her products online, through word of mouth only. Most of the reach is through social media, especially Facebook, through which she can cater to all her customers in India and abroad.

Shalini has always been artistically inclined. She never took any formal lessons in Madhubani or Gond art with local artists but spent months in researching, learning and mastering the art on her own. But the paintings became her primary passion only when her friends and family started appreciating and recognising her art pieces. Since she has spent so much of time and energy in understanding and learning the intricacies of these tribal art forms, they give her a sense of belonging and completeness. “They connect me to our rich Indian heritage, culture and values – it’s almost an act of meditation and happiness. “

My paintings are not just an ensemble of bright colours and shapes, but a symbolic presentation of stories from our ageless epics and folklores or an amalgamation of vintage and contemporary to make more sense in keeping the current market trends in mind. Kolourkloud also converts these symbolic, handmade paintings into many useful, unique and practical products like coasters, boxes, trays, organisers etc. Being traditional yet contemporary, these tribal art forms from the house of Kolourkloud are finding lot of appreciators who become proud owners of these masterpieces globally.

Traditionally rich tribal art forms have different traditional codes that determine the relative appearances, style and symbols, in order to keep the authenticity of the art piece alive along with the contemporary touch to each piece we take utmost care in picking characters, moods, colours and shapes.  Thus, each painting is unique in its own special way.
